Creation of Anthropomorphic Bone Phantoms With Customized Fused Filament Fabrication 3D Printing

摘要

We investigate an approach for the creation of anthropomorphic humerus bone phantom with realistic x-ray absorption properties. The approach makes use of a fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printer coupled with a voxel- by-voxel printing method. Furthermore, we utilize two types of printing methods – with one filament and with two filaments. The source data for the phantoms is computed tomography (CT) data converted to gray scale images. The validation is performed on the CT data from the original scanned bone and the CT data of the scanned anthropomorphic phantoms. We compare the results of the created phantoms with the source CT data.
