Mechanical Behavior of Classical Sandwich Beams

The quasi-static mechanical behavior of classical sandwich beams is investigated in this chapter. The investigated load cases range from bending, over tension/compression to shear loading. The derived general expressions for the stress distributions are simplified for the special case of a so-called technical sandwich, i.e., a symmetrical configuration with thin face sheets and a soft core.
