New Work: How Important Is the Orientation of Meaning? Reflections on the Basis of Frankl’s Dimensional Ontology

  • Bernd Ahrendt

摘要

New work leads to a different view of the relationship between companies and human being, which is becoming increasingly important in the context of work environments that are highly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. In this respect, Viktor Frankl’s perspective of a dimensional ontology allows a closer look at the concept of meaning, which is decisive for understanding new work and points to implications for the human-oriented and organizational level of companies. In order to clearly differentiate these concepts from extrinsic/intrinsic motivation, the term “logofocal motivation” is recommended in relation to the spiritual (noëtic) dimension.
