When the Angel Turns into a Demon: The Pathology of Psychopathology
摘要
The author explores a new approach in dealing with psychopathology through the use of logotherapy. Four case studies bear witness to the anguish suffered by patients suffering from severe psychogenic neuroses. The illness submerges the essence of who they are as spiritual, free-willed human beings in the sea of emotional turmoil and conflict. Not functioning on the supremely human level of meaning and purpose in life, they are held captive by distorted perceptions of themselves and the world. How can logotherapy be employed to break this stranglehold of internalized lies, to counteract the devastating effects of trauma suffered in the formative stages of personality development? The bigger question is: Can logotherapy be practiced in a new, more comprehensive way?
