V. Resonance

  • Simon Susen

摘要

Resonance is a mode of relation that comprises four key characteristics: (1) being affected, (2) self-efficacy, (3) adaptive transformation, and (4) uncontrollability. The confluence of our capacities (1) to affect and to be affected, (2) to respond and to be responded to, (3) to undergo and to trigger adaptive transformation, and (4) to accept and to embrace the uncontrollability of the world forms the background to our potential for realizing our need, desire, and search for resonance. Since its occurrence, substance, consequences, and duration cannot be manufactured, engineered, or predicted, resonance escapes the stifling logic of instrumental reason, epitomized in modernity’s quest for relentless escalation and optimization.
