I. Agency

  • Simon Susen

摘要

A noticeable limitation of Rosa’s inquiry into uncontrollability is that it lacks a systematic account of agency. Arguably, among the most significant—interrelated and overlapping—types of agency are the following: (1) human, (2) nonhuman, (3) natural and evolutionary, (4) socio-structural and extended, and (5) transcendental. In order to grasp the interplay between different forms and degrees of controllability, semicontrollability, and uncontrollability, a sociology of our relationship to the world needs to provide a comprehensive theory of agency.
