Dynamic Priority Based Application Offloading Strategy in Mobile Cloud Computing

Offloading an application from mobile device to nearby cloudlets is a critical task and at the same time to take the decision regarding the offloading. In paper [11], the cloudlets were selected based on the execution time. Execution time of the applications is a fixed parameter and therefore it was a static priority algorithm. In this paper, we are going to introduce the dynamic priority algorithm for the selection of the cloudlets to offload an application. Based on the type of the application, the priority will vary. The user applications will be set with the task priority and the priority parameter will be dependent on the type of the task. Thus, it will reduce the energy consumption and delay to execute an application efficiently compared to the FIFO based, round robin based, proxy server based, App-Spec cloudlet based and App-Exec cloudlet based techniques. This will also give priority to the mobile user to execute an application outside the mobile device based on various parameters for different applications. The simulation work is carried out in the university laboratory with the mobile, desktop and laptop devices.
