Introduction: The Particle World Versus the Wave World
摘要
Our physical world is made up of matter and radiation. According to current quantum theory, both matter and radiation are made of quantum particlesQuantum particle, which behave in very strange ways. That is, they have both particleParticle and waveWave properties. This strange phenomenon is called “wave-particle dualityWave-particle duality”. In view of this discovery, people may explain the quantum world from the particleParticle view or the waveWave view. Historically, the development of quantum physics was mainly based on the particleParticle view. However, particleParticle theory encountered major conceptual challenges, and even the most eminent physicists saw no way out. In this book, we present a new idea; we propose to explain the quantum world in terms of wavesWave. We find that this new approach can indeed overcome some of the major conceptual problems in current quantum theory. The purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive review on how to use the waveWave model to resolve quantum mysteries encountered today.
