摘要

Digitalization has significantly changed journalism and brought about the rise of digital journalism with the considerable fall of printed editions’ circulation. Journalists are faced with a faster production speed, a 24-h news cycle, greater competition and pressure. The goal of this chapter is to explore and examine the current and future challenges and opportunities for journalists in Croatia from their own perspective, through a qualitative survey we conducted with them. In particular, we look at the changing journalistic routines and dominant practices in Croatian online newsrooms, as well as what journalists’ opinions about the future of journalism are. We have seen that many of the trends perceived in other countries that are based on the increased penetration of digital practices are present in Croatian newsrooms as well. However, as the article suggests, these practices are not always welcome by journalists and they don’t lead to high-quality journalism practices.
