Fruit Flies: A Threat to Fruit Production in the Americas

This chapter briefly introduces the basics of fruit fly management in the Americas. A total of 21 species of fruit flies belonging to the genera Anastrepha Schiner, Bactrocera Macquart, Ceratitis MacLeay, and Rhagoletis Loew have economic importance. This chapter presents information about their host plants as well as the aspects of their biology, geographic distribution, and damage.
