Right Outcomes Analysis

Measuring outcomes is the foundation of both clinical practice and process improvement. Without precision and proper alignment with organizational goals, the effectiveness and efficiency of care activities cannot be fully determined. In modern healthcare, vascular access is the most common invasive procedure, often done without intentional design and control. The challenge for the vascular access profession is to consistently apply vascular health and preservation (VHP) principles and to make the case to the larger organization about the value added in using evidence-based practice improvements. The value compass represents the four directions of value: quality, costs, satisfaction, and function. When vascular access outcomes are measured and analyzed within this value framework, intravenous therapy is aligned with the tenets of the VHP model.
