Right Insertion for Central Catheters and Tunneling
摘要
The way in which clinicians practice the art and science of central vascular access device placement and management continues to develop to meet the challenges of today’s patient population. New information and research continue to emerge, improving patient outcomes through the rigorous review of data-driven standards of care (Gorski LA. A look at 2021 infusion therapy standards of practice. Home Healthcare Now. 2021;39(2):62–71). The goal is always to minimize complications by selecting the appropriate vascular access device to administer the prescribed therapy for the patient. In this chapter, we explore the best practice standards for central venous access. The underlying principle of vessel health and preservation is a thorough patient assessment which culminates into the practice of placing the Right device at the Right Time for the Right Patient™ (Teleflex, Raleigh, North Carolina, USA).
