摘要

126 in 1,000,000 women are newly diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 6 in 100,000 with cervical cancer in the USA. Regular screening for these cancers has significantly reduced mortality from these cancers over time. Thus, it is imperative that breast and cervical cancer screenings are routine components of primary care office visits. In this chapter, we focus on a general approach to the asymptomatic patient through assessment of risk factors for these cancers, screening methodologies, and screening recommendations. Age and risk factor appropriate screening can save lives through early diagnosis and can allow for the prevention of unwarranted testing and side effects.
