摘要

Primary care is often the first, and highest volume, touchpoint for medical care in the USA. Since the 1980s, there has been a movement to specialize primary services to meet the needs of the diverse patient populations they serve. Women’s health, which was born out of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s, has emerged as a field of focus for primary care. Its importance has been bolstered by data showing sex-based differences in health concerns and outcomes, mandating further study, and understanding the needs of women and gender minorities. This book presents cases related to a series of common concerns encountered in women’s and gender minorities’ healthcare, using each chapter to delve into reproductive, mental, oncologic, menopausal, and other domains of health which may benefit from greater specificity and expertise.
