Buckling of Beams and Plates. Theoretical Foundations for the Structural Analysis According to Eurocode 3

This paper discusses the theory necessary to perform the stability analysis according to DIN EN 1993-1-1. The important topics of stability theory are summarised and the subject of imperfections is discussed comprehensively. Furthermore, the stability analysis, i.e. first, second and third order theory are discussed briefly. Finally, the theory behind the buckling behaviour of beams and plates is described more in detail.
