Varicose Veins in Men
摘要
Varicose veins arise due to worsening venous incompetence primarily in the lower extremities over time. This issue is a cosmetic concern for all, but women tend to address this problem more proactively than men. This chapter aims to describe the epidemiology, anatomy and pathophysiology, diagnosis, and current treatment modalities for varicose veins. At the same, we highlight the safe and effective applicability of these approaches to men. Ultimately, we hope that this chapter will empower plastic and reconstructive surgeons to have greater comfort with recognizing and treating this cosmetic issue in male patients.
