A First Order Sliding Mode Control of the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

One of the most widely used machines in industry is the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM), thanks to its characteristics. The control of this machine has been the focus of much scientific research, with the aim of improving both its performance and its robustness. In this paper, we'll study the control of PMSM using the classic PI controller, followed by the advanced sliding-mode control technique. The results show the preference for sliding-mode control, especially in terms of response time, and robustness against variations in machine parameters.
