摘要

This paper presents a reduced patch antenna which resonate at 2.45 GHz. The miniaturization technique used in this work is Metamaterial (MTM); two symmetric metamaterial square unit cells based on split ring resonator (SRR) was printed on the edge of the radiating element of a conventional patch antenna which resonating at 3.54 GHz, this design technique shifts the initial resonance frequency from 3.54 to 2.45 GHz. Therefore, the resulted MTM antenna is 51.48% smaller than a 2.45 GHz standard rectangular patch antenna and has a reflection coefficient of – 32.6 dB, a gain of 2.03 dB and a bandwidth of 186.4 MHz. The materials used in the design are cooper annulled for conducting elements and Epoxy FR-4, with permittivity 4.4, as a substrate. The simulation of the antenna was done with CST solver.
