Technology in Education: An Attitudinal Investigation Among Prospective Teachers from a Country of Emerging Economy
摘要
The integration of technology for teaching and learning created many changes in the academe. This added an expectation for teachers and prospective teachers to be competent in using different technological tools for classroom instruction. To ensure successful technology integration in education, factors such as attitudes toward it must be explored. Given this, studies have been conducted in the Philippines focusing on individuals’ attitudes toward technology integration and the factors that influence such attitudes; however, these studies delved only on the views of teachers. Thus, this study aimed to explore the attitude of teacher education students toward technology integration as well as whether factors such as perceived ease of use, IT self-efficacy, IT anxiety, adoption of IT, relative advantage, compatibility, and an institute’s support are significantly related to their attitude. This study utilized a quantitative descriptive survey design. A questionnaire with a reliability score of 0.9 from the study of Ramdhony et al. [4] was used, and 100 teacher education students responded in the survey. The results reveal that the respondents display a positive attitude toward technology integration. Apart from IT anxiety, the other six mentioned factors have significant relationships with attitude. The results are further discussed in the study.
