Design and Analysis of the Rectangular Microstrip Patch for 5G Application

This paper is introducing a design for a patch antenna for 5G applications. The prototype suggested of antenna is design to operate at a frequency of 24 GHz, utilizing Rogers RT5880 with a permittivity equal to 2.2 and a loss tangent of 0.0009. The simulation of the suggested patch is conducted using the CST Studio Suite software. The primary objectives of this research are to attain return loss, elevated gain, reduced VSWR, improved directivity, and overall enhanced efficiency in operation. The simulation results reveal promising performance metrics: a return loss of −31.54 dB, a gain of 8.093 dB, a VSWR of 1.05, a directivity of 8.127 dBi, and a bandwidth featuring a −10 dB reflection coefficient, encompassing a span of 2.8046 GHz (from 22.705 to 25.51 GHz). Additionally, the antenna system demonstrates an impressive efficiency of 99.58%. Overall, the presented antenna exhibits good gain characteristics across the frequency band.
