Conclusion: Notable Lessons for the Future of the Sub-Saharan Africa Region

The mandate of the experienced researchers who have contributed to this book was to explore the interface between the media, language, political communication, and democracy in the sub-Saharan Africa region. Its chapters can be divided into those that concern Africa in general and those that focus on specific case studies within the sub-Saharan Africa region. Here we summarize major takeaways from the book, at the same time mapping the way forward for the region by suggesting possible approaches to the ongoing fight for democracy within the region. Our main argument is that the media, language, and literature are critical variables that people need to handle with care if effective political communication is to ensure the achievement of the long overdue democracy in the sub-Saharan Africa region.
