From the Biela’s Comet to Pluto’s Orbit: The Paduan Contributions

Padua Astronomical Observatory had a long tradition in the calculation of orbital elements; ephemerides calculated by Giovanni Santini were by far considered the most reliable in the nineteenth century, including the contribution to the computation of Pluto’s orbit from Giovanni Silva and his staff in the 1930s.
