Conclusion

This chapter reviews the book’s main aims and contributions to the field, including the cataloguing of early manuscripts related to the Mevlevis and the historical contextualisation of this information. It also summarises each chapter’s findings and conclusions, including the role of Mevlevi texts in the consolidation of Mevlevi identity and the geographical expansion of the group, the diversity of individuals involved in Mevlevi manuscript culture and the physical environments in which such material was produced. The final part of the chapter outlines the book’s limitations and suggests further avenues for scholarship.
