I was born and raised in Bulgaria. My father was an alcoholic and worked as a driver for a bank executive. My mother was a kindergarten teacher. We grew up very poor, in a communist country and abusive family situation. My father used to beat my mum on a daily basis. After few years of abuse, my mom left and relocated to live with our grandma. She had to work three to four jobs to provide for my sister and me. My sister and I were constantly bullied by our classmates at school because we didn’t have the father figure and we were easy targets. As we were growing up, I became more and more rebellious and fought with my mum increasingly until she completely lost control over me. By the time I was a teenager, I was drinking, smoking, sexually active, and made some bad decisions, which I paid for years later.
