The UK Response to MSHT

  • Jeff Norman

摘要

The United Kingdom signed up to the Palermo Protocol in 2000, in which trafficking is defined. The Modern Slavery Act of 2015 is a UK Act of Parliament, which consolidates offences into a single piece of legislation and provides law enforcement with the tools to fight modern-day slavery, ensures perpetrators receive punishment and enhances support and protection for victims. Provision is also made for statutory defence for slavery or trafficking victims who are forced to commit an offence. The UK National referral Mechanism (NRM) is described, as well as timelines for decisions made in the United Kingdom.
