A Vision for Introducing AI Topics: A Case Study

This chapter is the introductory chapter to AI. It describes a vision for introducing AI into STEM-driven CS education. This vision includes (i) background and key (general) AI concepts, (ii) a framework for introducing AI as much as possible systematically, and (iii) the methodology explaining the implementation of the proposed framework. This framework takes into account the “five big ideas” proposed by Touretzky et al., the TPACK framework and evolutionary aspects of STEM-driven CS education, i.e., our book published in 2018. We present this methodology as a generic process model. The remaining components of the framework and methodology are the generic architecture of SLE to support the AI content and the generic scenario for learning. Both are derivatives of ones previously developed and described in the above-mentioned ours book.
