Fighting Your Biology
摘要
After dieting weight is typically regained, to the extent that you can end up heavier than prior to dieting. The body is programmed to replace lost weight. Having lost weight, for years hormones are released that increase appetite. The metabolic rate declines so less energy is expended in maintaining basic bodily functioning. The net result is that after dieting, you need to consume fewer calories than before dieting, as the body is more efficient. It is concluded that as much attention should be directed to preventing the regaining of lost weight, as losing it in the first place.
