Email and other forms of correspondence

This chapter investigates using a chatbot to generate emails vs writing them yourself and then getting the bot to correct them. The following types of emails are used as examples: applications for summer schools, cover letters for resumes and CVs, requests to professors, rebuttal letters, as well as ‘difficult’ emails such a expressing condolences in the event of a death. Insights are provided into crafting effective subject lines and salutations, and the value of using standard phrases rather than direct translations from your native language.
