Storm and Stream Technologies
摘要
A substandard and outdated stormwater management results in flash flooding and contamination of waterbodies. Flash flooding is caused due to untimely detection of runoff by an outdated stormwater infrastructure. Moreover, pollutants damage aquatic habitat due to urban runoff. This problem has been addressed using larger storage and conveyance infrastructure. However, this solution is infeasible due to construction cost and chances of future expansion (upgrading, population increase, regulatory requirements, etc.) making current infrastructure outdated and insufficient to meet needs and danger of flooding due to overdesigned conveyance system. In this chapter new solutions are developed to address these issues.
