Occupational Safety From the Point of View of Safe Worker Behaviour in Peruvian Construction Companies

The purpose of this study, for which 53 businesses were contacted, was to determine whether or not there is a correlation between employees’ safe behavior on the job and their workplace safety. The need for this study, which seeks to identify the relationship of safe conduct with occupational safety in construction companies, arises from the rapid expansion of the construction industry in Peru, the high rate of construction-related accidents, and the lack of managerial concern for fostering a culture of safety in the workplace. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was carried out, and the result was a p-value less than 0.05. This indicates that neither of the variables has a normal distribution. The subsequent Spearman’s Rho test yielded a value of 0.632, and the significance level was 0.00**. The study came to the following conclusion: there is some evidence to suggest that safe worker behavior and occupational safety in construction enterprises have a moderately positive association.
