Provision of IoT in Privileged and Sectors in India
摘要
The provision of Internet of things (IoT) technology in India has been uneven, with privileged sectors such as urban areas and high-income communities receiving greater access and benefits compared to unprivileged sectors such as rural areas and low-income communities. Studies have shown that the main barriers to IoT adoption in unprivileged sectors in India include lack of infrastructure, low levels of digital literacy, and limited access to affordable devices and services. Additionally, there are also cultural and language barriers that further hinder the provision of IoT in these communities. However, there have been efforts by the government and private organizations to bridge the digital divide and provide IoT solutions to unprivileged sectors. For example, the government has launched programs to promote digital literacy and provide Internet connectivity to rural areas. Private companies have also initiated projects to develop low-cost IoT devices and provide IoT-based services in areas such as agriculture and healthcare. The present chapter purports to study about the scope of IoT in privileged and unprivileged sectors, along with the data protection provisions for consumer IoT, its uses, relevance, and potentials, with the challenges, strategies, and models for easy application of IoT in different sectors and policy implications.
