Introduction
摘要
This chapter outlines the rationale and aims of the book. It presents the main research questions that will be addressed in this study. These questions focus on the shifts in territorial dynamics experienced by Italy before and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The chapter also explores the key concepts that underpin the theoretical framework and the empirical analysis. It highlights the importance of bridging (1) institutionalist theories that examine the powers assigned to different levels of government and their interactions, (2) policy analyses that critically evaluate the effectiveness of regional policies in addressing socio-economic challenges, (3) political communication studies that delve into how political leaders effectively convey their key messages to voters, and (4) public opinion research that investigates the attitudes and behaviours of the electorate. By integrating these diverse approaches, the book seeks to provide a holistic understanding of the multifaceted nature of regionalism in Italy and its latest developments, ultimately contributing to broader theoretical debates and offering empirical insights applicable to other contexts and disciplines. The chapter concludes with an overview of the book’s content.
