Although conservative surgical techniques show advantages in function-sparing after an Open Partial Horizontal Laryngectomy (OPHL) patients must deal with an important rehabilitation process in order to obtain the best post-surgery quality of life. The goal is no longer just to treat the tumor but to ensure the most physiological functional recovery of swallowing, breathing, and phonation. The patient’s motivation and the earliest possible postoperative intervention of the speech therapist are determining factors in the speed of functional recovery and quality of life.
