Open partial horizontal laryngectomy (OPHL) is a well-known organ-preserving surgery technique used for the treatment of early or locally advanced laryngeal tumors. Knowledge of any complications is of fundamental importance to prevent and/or effectively treat them. We can divide them into complications related to surgery (hemorrhage, infection, pexy failure, and lymphorrhagia) and dysfunctions (dysphagia, dyspnea, and dysphonia) that can impact functional outcomes. It is critical to have a proper diagnosis of complications and a thorough understanding of their management.
