摘要

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a synthetic, bioabsorbable monofilament suture renowned for its colorless, crystalline properties. Derived from paradioxanone, PDO is available in various forms, lengths, and surface characteristics, making it versatile for medical applications. PDO threads have been utilized for many years across different medical applications and specialities. Particularly, PDO threads have garnered significant interest in aesthetic medicine for their role in thread-lifting procedures, which aim to stimulate and reposition ptotic soft tissues, resulting in rejuvenation. The placement of PDO threads initiates a bio-stimulatory response, promoting tissue regeneration and improving skin texture, elasticity, and overall quality. This chapter explores the characteristics of PDO threads and their diverse applications within the field of aesthetic medicine.
