European AI Regulation Perspectives and Trends

In a time when the AI Act Proposal is being discussed, it is important to revisit the meaning of AI regulation in light of the relationship between ethics and law. Then, the text analyses the options that were taken by the European Commission in the Proposal and, in particular, criticizes the relevant omission of civil liability. It argues that there is a need for convergence of compensation with the characteristics that, after all, justify the regulation of AI high-risk systems.
