Analysis and Comparison of BER Performance of OFDM-IM Under Various Fading Channels Using Conventional Detectors

An innovative multi-carrier system called orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with index modulation (OFDM-IM) was recently developed to transmit more information bits than the regular OFDM. In this study, the overall performance of OFDM-IM is examined for both known and unknown channel state information (CSI) under a number of fading channels, including Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, alpha-mu and kappa-mu. The performance of OFDM-IM in all kinds of fading channels is analysed and contrasted with the aid of conventional detectors like maximum likelihood, log-likelihood and greedy detectors. The simulation results show that, among other multipath fading channels, the performance of the kappa-mu channel is best, and that the LLR detector, in comparison to other detectors, has the best BER performance.
