Endophthalmitis is a severe intraocular infection characterized by purulent inflammation and tissue destruction caused by infecting organisms’ toxins as well as tissue inflammation. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of endophthalmitis, covering its definition, classification, etiology, incidence, clinical diagnosis, management philosophy, treatment options, surgical techniques, and key points. The importance of timely intervention, both medical and surgical, is emphasized, with a focus on complete and early vitrectomy (CEVE) as an effective approach.
