In this chapter, several examples will be provided that demonstrate how to perform long-range planning and operational planning studies with a focus on power systems with a high share of power electronic interfaced devices (PEIDs). The Figure 13.1 below characterizes the three main types of studies, typical study time frame, models used, and focus area.
