Figure 12.1 characterizes the three main types of studies that will be discussed in Part V, namely long-term planning, interconnection planning and operational planning. In this chapter, grid interconnection planning studies of inverter-based resources and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) projects will be discussed. An overview of the main grid codes is provided along with general study procedure.
