Approaches in Transmission Network Modeling for EMT Dynamic Studies Including the Impact of Relevant Protection Systems

The technique of maintaining a full substation topology representation (including circuit breakers) in a simulation model is referred to as node-breaker modeling. Historically, this representation has not been widely supported due to its increased computational requirements to explicitly represent the substantial number of additional voltage nodes it introduces into the simulation.
