摘要

The burning of peatland forests contributes significantly to the increase in carbon dioxide levels. Land and forest fires are a severe concern that contributes to global warming and climate change almost every year. As a result, a mechanism is required to assure the prevention of forest fires, which would result in a complete reduction in carbon emissions and a global carbon balance. The goal of this project is to create a device that measures and monitors soil moisture levels to prevent peatlands from burning. An Arduino MEGA 2560 is chosen as the project’s brain, while MATLAB software is employed for the programming portion of the system. A soil moisture content sensor, a groundwater level sensor, a surrounding temperature detection system, and a smoke detection system make up the measuring system. The forest fire prevention system prototype will cover a volume of 25,480 cm3 and will be scaled down by 1:10 from the actual level for level sensing. To prevent a fire from spreading, the groundwater level in the soil must be higher than 40 cm. This project will help to prevent the fire from spreading and will cut carbon emissions from forest fires in the long run.
