摘要

This paper reports on the development of an energy management system for intensive care unit (ICU) wards in hospitals. A huge amount of energy wastage is found in the ICU wards where the air conditioner and lights are switched on the whole day. In this research, we proposed an energy management and optimization system in hospital ICU wards. The proposed system will help to reduce the wastage of energy in ICU wards and lower the impact of the greenhouse effect and global warming in general. The system will identify the occupancy of the wards and store patient’s details in the database by using the radio frequency identification technique. The control system will manage the ambient light and room temperature based on the occupancy of the rooms. A Blynk application is implemented to remotely monitor, control, and access the recorded data. By utilizing the energy management system, 30% saving was recorded in terms of cost and energy consumption.
