摘要

Neurosurgeon Lars Leksell first described radiosurgery in 1951 and the first clinical application involved GammaKnife-based treatment of benign conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia and arteriovenous malformations (AVM). The principles of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) have been applied to fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) techniques for treatment of a variety of commonly treated benign tumors and functional disorders of the CNS. This chapter summarizes hypofractionated radiotherapy techniques, including SRS and FSRT, for AVM.
