摘要

Pituitary adenomas represent a heterogeneous group of benign tumors that can present as an incidental radiographic finding or with a variety of neurologic and/or endocrine symptoms. The goals of therapy are to maximize local control, preservation of normal function, and normalization of endocrine abnormalities. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and conventionally fractionated radiotherapy are well-established treatments for pituitary adenoma with high local tumor control rates and extensive long-term follow-up data. There has also been recent clinical interest in the application of fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) in patients with large tumors or those abutting or involving the optic apparatus. This chapter summarizes hypofractionated radiotherapy techniques including SRS and FSRT for pituitary adenomas.
