Gaia: A Planet Dominated by Bacteria

Life appeared on earth approximately 3.5 billion years ago, and since then, the Earth and its living beings have been part of a structure that is capable of self-regulating as a single integrated physiological system. Gaia, Mother Earth, the Goddess of classical mythology who was born out of chaos and is the mother of all, gave her name to the Gaia Hypothesis, formulated by the English chemist James Lovelock in 1969.
