Assemblies with Threaded Fasteners

This chapter is an extension of the location-constrained fits between two parts that include the important case of fit of two parts with fasteners. The assembly with screws is called the fixed fastener assembly, while assembly with loose bolts and nuts is called the floating fastener assembly. Fixed fastener case can be handled as a two-part fit using a special tolerance symbol called the projected tolerance zone. Assembly with loose bolt case requires the use of a special formula called the floating fastener formula.
