Tolerance Design for Unconstrained Fits Between Two Parts Part II: Precision Fits

This chapter is a continuation of the unconstrained fits but with an emphasis on realistic applications and tolerance values. The bulk of the chapter is about the standard of limits and fits (ANSI B4.2). The standard of limits and fits presents a coded format for the specification of precision size tolerances. The ANSI B4.2 standard presents a number of preferred size limits and a set of 10 types of preferred fits. The designer matches the correct preferred fit with an application and follows through to determine the feature size limits.
