Analysis of Governance Arrangements for Controlling Corruption and Their Effectiveness

This further case study chapter continues the detailed analysis of corruption assessment and perception in the five OECS case study countries, with a focus on performances in the WGI Control of Corruption dimension and Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index. While WGI data reflects corruption control measures adopted, the CPI supposedly gives some indication of the effectiveness of these measures as reflected in the perception of corruption levels. Using the same methodology as the previous chapter, WGI and CPI scores and ratings are cross checked against BBC monitoring and local media reports, both for validation and to determine whether there is a discrepancy between perceptions of democratic norms and the reality of corruption in the case study countries.
