摘要

In recent years, owing to the excessive urbanization and industrial development heavy metals have emerged as pollutants of concern for the environment. There are many sources that are responsible for the addition of heavy metals to the environment but anthropogenic activities are the biggest contributors. Out of all the heavy metals released into the environment, one of the most notorious elements is cadmium (Cd), owing to its variety of adverse effects on plants, animals as well as humans. Hence, there arises a requirement to remove the said element from the environment in order to protect the same. Out of the many strategies that can be used for the removal of Cd from environment, bioremediation techniques can prove to be most beneficial because apart from being an answer to the pollutants, these processes can also benefit the environment. Therefore, in the present manuscript, we try to present evidences in favor that bioremediation as the best technique for Cd removal. We shall explore different agencies that can be utilized in the process of Cd removal and maintenance.
